Treatment with fillers: before, during and after
Are you planning a treatment with fillers and wondering what to do before treatment and what to look out for after treatment? Or are you curious about photos of fillers, before and after treatment? Then you've come to the right place.
Deciding to have treatment with fillers is a big step. It is understandable that you would like to be as informed as possible about fillers and everything that is important before and after treatment.
Here you can read everything you need to know before the treatment. We also explain what happens during the treatment , so that you can face it with confidence. Then we give you information about aftercare and what you can and cannot do after treatment. Of course, we also show some photos of fillers, before and after.
Fillers for: preparation for treatment
As such, you don't really need to physically prepare for filler treatment. What we want to give here is mainly enough information to be mentally ready for the filler treatment.
1. Choose the best clinic with experienced doctors
Have you decided that you want to have treatment with fillers? Then it's time to choose where and by whom you want the treatment performed. This is the most important decision you will have to make in this whole process.
The choice of your treating physician and clinic will determine the final outcome. Since so much depends on this choice, you'd like to make it as thoughtfully as possible. We understand that! Therefore, we give you some things to consider when choosing the doctor and the best clinic.
Choose based on quality, not price
- With fillers, it is important to always choose quality. Do not accept extremely low prices or implausible offers. In this world, price and quality really do go together.
- When we talk about quality, we are talking about both the quality of the staff and the quality of the products used. A higher price indicates a doctor with more experience and the use of high quality fillers.
Quality staff and care
- A first measure of the quality of an aesthetic clinic is the quality of its staff and care. This involves looking at the aesthetic doctors and beauty consultants and their experience and training.
- Both the years of experience of the aesthetic physicians and beauty consultants and the continuing education they attended give an indication of the quality of the clinic. The best clinics work with experienced doctors who receive continuous training.
- At Sarasin, it's no different. The training and experience of our staff, state of the art equipment and high quality products contribute to superior care. With us, patient safety is paramount, as well as high quality results.
- As icing on the cake, we at Sarasin are experts in fillers. The doctors who perform these aesthetic treatments have several years of experience and therefore the necessary knowledge and skills to complete each treatment successfully.
Quality products
In addition, the quality of the products used also contributes to the quality. With fillers, that means using the highest quality hyaluronic acid fillers to achieve the best and most lasting results.
Cheap fillers are less reliable. The crosslinking of these fillers is not pure, so there are residual particles in the filler. This is dangerous because your body can react to them. This can then cause side effects and complications.
At Sarasin, we use high-quality fillers. Which fillers we use depends on the patient's goal. For example, there are fillers that specifically serve to improve the lips, reduce wrinkles, restore volume....
2. Choose an esthetician with the same vision
- It is also important to check what vision the doctor or clinic has for beauty. Does it pay attention to your natural features? How does the doctor see beauty? A good way to gain insight into this is to look at photos of fillers before and after.
- Another way to find out is to look at the appearance of the doctor himself. If you share the same vision of beauty, it is more likely that you will be satisfied with the result the doctor creates for you.
3. Know well what result you want
Not unimportant: knowing exactly what you want. Do you prefer a subtle improvement or a natural result? Try to decide this before you trek to a clinic to discuss or perform treatment.
Everyone has personal wishes, and at Sarasin we do our utmost to make your dream result a reality. We will always see what is possible and what will produce the most beautiful result for you.
We believe that each patient is unique and therefore requires a personalized approach and treatment . We look at proportions and how everything will be in proportion in the end. Only in this way can we guarantee you the best result after a filler treatment.
4. Be realistic
Some people have sky-high expectations for filler treatment. We can usually fill those too, but be realistic. After a filler treatment, you won't suddenly feel like a different person.
Don't expect fillers to be the cure for self-assurance or self-confidence. Fuller lips, better-defined facial contours or fewer wrinkles can certainly boost your self-confidence, but sometimes the cause of your insecurity does not lie with your appearance. Sometimes you don't need fillers, but you do need inner growth. Only you can decide for yourself what you expect from fillers and whether those expectations are realistic.
5. Having doubts? Book a consultation
Do you know that you want to do a filler treatment, but are still with many doubts or questions? Then we recommend a consult to book, so you can discuss this with your esthetician.
You may not know if you need fillers or muscle relaxers, if a certain result is achievable or if you can address certain wrinkles with fillers. By discussing this with your doctor beforehand, you can leave for the filler treatment with a good feeling.
During the filler treatment
Part of preparation is also knowing what the treatment itself is like. That way, you know what to expect and how much time you need to set aside. Whether it's restoring lost volume, accentuating your jawline, or getting rid of puffiness; the basics of filler treatments are always the same.
What can I expect from the treatment?
Discussion
Before the actual treatment begins, your esthetician will discuss with you exactly what you want to achieve with the treatment and what your personal wishes are. Together with the esthetician you will go over whether the results are feasible. Then the doctor will briefly explain water will happen. Then the work can really begin!
Treatment
- A filler treatment is done with hyaluronic acid fillers. These are applied with a thin needle or cannula with small injections into the skin. Exactly where the hyaluronic acid filler is applied depends on the intended result.
- For example, you will apply fillers deeper into the skin if you want to create volume to highlight the jawline, for example. Rather, if you want to add firmness to the skin and create a hydrated look, you will apply the fillers less deeply.
- Once the fillers are applied, the work is not over. Immediately after the injections, they use gauze to apply pressure to the injected substance. Good news for people with a fear of needles: none of this takes very long. After a few minutes, the treatment with fillers is over.
No pain, no gain?
Is a filler treatment painful? It may look a little painful, but it does not feel painful. At most, it is slightly uncomfortable, but fortunately that discomfort only lasts for a very short time.
In fact, many fillers contain an anesthetic, so you will only experience discomfort at the beginning of the treatment. Moreover, at Sarasin we have surgical grade anesthetic creams available. For those who wish, we can use these creams during the treatment.
How long does a filler treatment last?
A filler treatment does not take very long. Both the pre-treatment discussion and the filler treatment itself are included in the treatment time.
Most treatments last between 15 and 60 minutes. Depending on the area treated and the amount of filler, the filler treatment takes longer or less time.
If you want a natural result, you will need fewer fillers. If you want a slightly more pronounced or bombastic result you will need more fillers. Then the treatment will also take longer.
Who is allowed to inject filler?
Treatment with hyaluronic acid fillers is always performed by a physician. It is important to know that fillers can be harmful if placed improperly by an incompetent person.
Fillers should only be placed by a doctor. This is so because there is a lot involved in placing fillers. If you want to place fillers, you need to know the product properties, how the face is put together and what technique to use.
In addition, it is also important to be aware of possible side effects and risks of fillers so that you can intervene in time if necessary. So it should be clear that not just anyone can place fillers. You are therefore in the best hands with an experienced doctor.
At Sarasin, our doctors specialize in the placement of fillers. Through their many years of experience, they ensure that you achieve optimal results after treatment. Whether you want to improve the appearance of your jawline or get rid of puffiness, our doctors ensure that the result of the treatment is excellent.
Mixing fillers?
Is this not your first filler treatment? Then it is possible that there are still (remnants) of another temporary filler in the treated area of your skin. It is important that you do not then apply fillers from other brands in the same area.
In general, you can mix different types of fillers from the same brand. This happens, for example, when we perform a liquid facelift. In such a liquid facelift, the entire face is addressed with fillers for optimal, natural results.
After the filler treatment
The treatment is over. Now how do you make sure you keep the beautiful result of the hyaluronic acid fillers as much as possible? Below you can read what is expected of you after the treatment and what the temporary side effects are.
Will I be presentable after a filler treatment?
- Since filler treatment is not surgical, it is also not as invasive. So after the treatment, you can go on with your life as usual, although you will have to take a few things into account. For one, traces of the treatment will be visible.
- For example, some people ask if they can start working immediately after a filler treatment. In itself, that is certainly an option. However, you will have to take into account facial swelling and possible bruising in the treated area.
- Whether to return to work immediately after a filler treatment is mostly a personal choice. Although the mouth mask requirement is helpful in this case to cover up any side effects.
What if I am not satisfied?
Don't worry. The temporary hyaluronic acid from the filler can be Hyalase dissolving. That way, you'll be rid of the unwanted result almost immediately .
Most of the unwanted result will disappear quickly. However, it can sometimes take two weeks for all the fillers to disappear from the treated area. Sometimes multiple treatments with Hyalase are also needed to get rid of unwanted results.
Aftercare of the treated spots
After the treatment, there are a few things you need to follow up on to ensure that the result of the fillers stays beautiful and that everything heals properly. For example, there are a few things you will have to leave for a while after treatment with fillers.
What are you not allowed to do?
Sports
After placing fillers, it is best not to exercise for 48 hours. Also, try to limit strenuous exercise as much as possible. This will give your body time to recover after the fillers are inserted.
Sun
Sorry sunbather, after treatment with fillers it's best to stay out of the sun for a while. For optimal results, you should avoid sunbathing for a week.
Sauna
Do you regularly visit the sauna to completely unwind? Then you will have to give it up after a filler treatment. We recommend avoiding the sauna for at least the first 48 hours after treatment.
Tanning
If going under the tanning bed is never the best idea when it comes to the health of your skin, you should definitely avoid it after fillers have just been injected into your skin. Afraid of losing your beautiful tan? You can do spray tans , although it's best to wait 24 hours for this too.
Skincare
Does your skin care routine consist of several steps? Then it is possible that you will have to omit some of them after filler placement. For example, scrubs and products containing retinol are not recommended, and you should avoid exfoliating after filler treatment so as not to irritate your skin excessively.
Temporary fillers: how long do hyaluronic acid fillers last?
The treatment is over, you followed the aftercare rules properly, but how long will the hyaluronic acid-based fillers give results? That depends on several factors. Below we briefly explain.
As you may know, hyaluronic acid is a substance native to the body. If hyaluronic acid were injected into the skin in pure form, it would be broken down by our body after only two days.
Therefore, hyaluronic acid in fillers is combined with another substance to increase the durability of the fillers. The fillers will still be broken down by the body, but that process will be slower.
How quickly the fillers eventually break down depends on the patient's anatomy, the patient's lifestyle (do you exercise a lot or not), the type of filler and where the fillers were injected.

Before and after nose lip crease
The nasal lip fold is a line that begins at the side of the nose and runs from there toward the corners of the mouth. It is one of the typical signs of aging and many people find that it gives them a gloomy, tired look. With fillers, you can add volume to the skin and eliminate this crease.
Before and after nasal filler
Did you know that you can also have a nose job done without surgery? This is called a liquid nosejob. By injecting fillers into the nose, we can adjust the shape of the nose.
Before and after tear trough filler
Fillers in the tear trough help combat a tired look caused by bags under the eyes. Puffiness can look like dark circles under the eyes. Some people also describe dark shadows under the eyes as puffiness.
Before and after lip filler
Perhaps one of the most popular fillers: the lip filler. You can use it to add more volume to the lips, hydrate the lips to smooth them a bit more, wrinkle the lip edges...
Before and after jawline filler
Fillers can also be applied near the jawline. Thus, you can revitalize a sagging jawline or you can inject fillers to achieve a more masculine jawline. In addition, they can also be used to narrow the jaws.
Before and after cheekbone filler
Cheekbone fillers are very popular, as high cheekbones are currently in high demand. They add tremendous character to your face and create an engaging look.
Before and after face filler/liquid facelift
Fillers even offer an alternative to the surgical facelift. Through the liquid facelift you can change the look of your face in no time. Your skin will look younger and more hydrated.
