How does the BTX Mouth corners treatment work?

When we inject BTX into the DAO muscle, it prevents the nerve impulses from reaching the muscle. The muscle is temporarily paralyzed, resulting in reduced activity of the DAO muscle. This causes the corners of the mouth to come back up, creating a more relaxed and friendly expression.

How does the treatment proceed?

The doctor will examine the face and corners of the mouth; in particular, they will look for many features such as:

  • What does the mouth look like at rest.

  • The doctor will look for asymmetry

What result can I expect?

Within 3-5 days, you will see the first results, but they are small compared to the effective result that will be visible only after 10-14 days. After which, your corners of the mouth get a subtle but effective improvement. The effect lasts for about 3-4 months. The more often the treatment is repeated, the longer it takes for the effect of the btx to wear off.

How do muscle relaxants or wrinkle injections work?

Muscle relaxant injections are injected into the facial muscles with a fine needle. This blocks the message from the nerve to the muscle. This will reduce the amount of contraction of that muscle and the lines start to become less visible, or even disappear completely.

How long does the effect of muscle relaxants or wrinkle injections last?

After 2-8 days, wrinkles begin to diminish. After 4 weeks, the maximum effect is achieved. From 6-8 weeks, the result is maintained. After 8 weeks, the effect begins to slowly diminish. After 12 weeks the effect is about 50% less, after 4 months the effect decreases by 80%. Most patients opt for a repeat treatment around 3-4 months, but this varies from patient to patient. Men, athletes and those who are more muscular may tend to need larger doses and more frequent doses.

Are muscle relaxants (btx) safe?

Wrinkle injections are a medical treatment prescribed and performed by a physician that carries risks. Generally, these procedures are considered low risk for complications.

What risks and side effects may occur with muscle relaxants (btx)?

Are muscle relaxants (btx) painful?

What is the aftercare after treatment with muscle relaxants?

our doctor may advise you to frown or use other facial expressions several times a day for the first few days avoid putting pressure on the treated area for 24-48 hours after treatment DO NOT massage the injection area!!! At least 24 hours after treatment do not apply makeup for 6-8 hours after treatment (until the next morning is even better).

Follow-up and treatment duration of muscle relaxants

After your initial treatment, you will generally be invited for a follow-up appointment about 2 weeks after your initial treatment. This allows the doctor to review your results.
