What are bunny lines?

Bunny lines appear on either side of the nose when the facial muscles contract. They are named after the way rabbits wrinkle their noses while moving their whiskers. How does a Bunny Lines treatment work?

In bunny lines treatment, we use a muscle relaxant. We inject this into the muscles responsible for causing bunny lines. The muscle relaxant causes the muscles to relax which reduces or eliminates the lines/wrinkles.

How does the treatment proceed?

  • You discuss with the doctor your expectations
  • Together with the doctor, you will determine the treatment that is best for you.
  • Photographs of the treated area are taken beforehand
  • The doctor disinfects the area being treated
  • We inject the BTX/muscle relaxant using a thin needle
  • After treatment, you can resume daily activities
  • The results will also be immediately apparent when you compare the before and after photos.

What result can I expect?

Within 3-5 days, you will see the first results but these are small compared to the effective results that are only visible after 10-14 days. After which you will usually observe smoother, more youthful looking skin around the nose. The effect lasts for about 3 to 4 months. The more often the treatment is repeated, the longer it takes for the effect of the btx/muscle relaxer to wear off.

How do muscle relaxants or wrinkle injections work?

Muscle relaxant injections are injected into the facial muscles with a fine needle. This blocks the message from the nerve to the muscle. This will reduce the amount of contraction of that muscle and the lines start to become less visible, or even disappear completely.

How long does the effect of muscle relaxants or wrinkle injections last?

After 2-8 days, wrinkles begin to diminish. After 4 weeks, the maximum effect is achieved. From 6-8 weeks, the result is maintained. After 8 weeks, the effect begins to slowly diminish. After 12 weeks the effect is about 50% less, after 4 months the effect decreases by 80%. Most patients opt for a repeat treatment around 3-4 months, but this varies from patient to patient. Men, athletes and those who are more muscular may tend to need larger doses and more frequent doses.

Are muscle relaxants (btx) safe?

Wrinkle injections are a medical treatment prescribed and performed by a physician that carries risks. Generally, these procedures are considered low risk for complications.

What risks and side effects may occur with muscle relaxants (btx)?

Are muscle relaxants (btx) painful?

You will therefore spend an average of 30 min in our clinic.

What is the aftercare after treatment with muscle relaxants?

our doctor may advise you to frown or use other facial expressions several times a day for the first few days avoid putting pressure on the treated area for 24-48 hours after treatment DO NOT massage the injection area!!! At least 24 hours after treatment do not apply makeup for 6-8 hours after treatment (until the next morning is even better).

Follow-up and treatment duration of muscle relaxants

After your initial treatment, you will generally be invited for a follow-up appointment about 2 weeks after your initial treatment. This allows the doctor to review your results. To maintain your results it is recommended that you have regular treatments, you can discuss this with your doctor at the time of your treatment.
