Frequently Asked Questions about Laser Treatments

Can I use deodorant after permanent underarm hair removal?

No definitely not! Please wait at least 1 day. Once any redness or sensitivity is gone, you may use deodorant again.

When may I shave again after a session?

It is best to wait until at least 1 day after the laser session to shave again. The day itself the skin may be a bit red and sensitive. You should only shave and never wax. Because by waxing you soften the hair and cause the hair follicle to shrivel, making it harder for the laser energy to "burn" this hair follicle enough so that it can no longer produce hair.

How much does laser hair removal cost?

Is laser hair removal allowed during the summer?

You may certainly do definitive laser sessions during the summer. Just keep in mind that you should not literally lie in the sun a few weeks before the laser session until 1 week after the laser session.

How many sessions do I need to be hair-free?

On average you should count between 3 to 8 sessions then you will be about 90% hair free. This means that you will NEVER be 100% hair free! Occasionally a hair follicle that has not been reached but has not produced a hair for years, for example, will suddenly produce a hair. We recommend a yearly follow up session.

How long should I stay out of the sun after a laser hair removal?

After your laser hair removal, it would not be wise to go swimming or really sunbathe immediately. The skin may be a little sensitive afterwards and sometimes look a little red. We recommend staying out of the sun or not swimming for at least 1 week anyway. Of course you can do laser hair removal in the summer, but not in places where you are exposed to the sun or just before a sun vacation.

Is laser hair removal allowed during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Because hair growth and hair cycles are sensitive to hormonal fluctuations, it is not recommended to do sessions during this period. For example, you may need additional sessions, or the laser may not work efficiently enough. Because we only want to work efficiently with good results we strongly advise against laser treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Why do there have to be different sessions?

Because hairs grow in different growth phases and we can only eliminate permanent hair follicles in 1 phase. Namely, the active growth phase. A hair has 3 different phases, and each hair is in a separate phase. Fortunately, otherwise we would e.g. be bald for one period, and then have lots of hair for a period! Only in this growth phase can we permanently remove hair. All other phases are there for the taking. Because we don't know which hair is in which phase, so you have to come back every so often, until there are almost no hairs left.

When is the best time to come back for another session of laser hair removal?

On average, this is between 4 and 8 weeks. As you move toward the end of your sessions, more time can be left in between. The golden rule is "come back only when your hair is fully growing." Because we are then in the active hair phase, it is only in this phase that you can permanently eliminate the hair follicles. This also means keeping an eye on your own hair cycle so that you can work very efficiently during a session. Otherwise, you will do a session that will have little effect.

Is laser hair removal painful?

Pain, of course, is subjective and different for everyone. Certain areas are more sensitive than others, such as the bikini or beard area in men. You should feel a slight tingle because then you also know that the hair follicle has been "burned." The first sessions are described as the most sensitive because you still have a lot of hair follicles. Because of this, you will still feel a lot of tingling. As more hair follicles are eliminated, you will feel less pain/stimulation.

Should I shave or wax between sessions?

Shave!!! Just shave. As you shave the hairs, they become slightly thicker and stiffer. This gives us more volume to focus our energy from the laser on. That way we can transmit a lot of energy so the hair follicle burns. That is also the reason why you have faster results on the armpits and bikini than e.g. on your legs, where you often need more sessions or see results less quickly. The rule is the thicker, darker and coarser the hair, the faster you will have results. This is because you can transfer a lot of energy to the hair follicle and it will be completely burned. Sounds more painful than it is you know 🙂

How long must my hair be before a laser session can be performed?

We need at least 1 mm of hair length to properly transmit the energy of the laser through the hair to the hair follicle. Your hair is actually the controughor of the energy, so we do need a hair, otherwise it doesn't make much sense!

Laser hair removal by nurse?

Our laser hair removal is done partly by a nurse, or by someone who has received special training in permanent laser treatment. Not only the quality of your device is very important but also the settings and skill of the laser specialist! We work with a regular team of laser specialists, so you almost always have the same person to perform your permanent hair removal.

Laser hair removal for redheads or blonde hairs?

Red and blonde hairs are very difficult to not be permanently removed with the laser. A better solution for these types of hairs is permanent electrolysis hair removal. In electrolysis hair removal, one will "burn" hair by hair, through a fine needle. Unlike the laser, which only gets to the follicle with laser energy thanks to the color pigment of the hair. Color pigment in red or blond hair is missing, so the laser cannot transmit its energy through the hair, and one will bring the energy to the hair root through a needle. This is a very time-consuming process and is also more painful than permanent laser hair removal. But you will be truly permanently rid of your blonde or reddish hair 🙂 🙂 .

Is laser hair removal allowed on a tattoo?

No, never laser on a tattoo! You have to count that a laser is blind, and focuses its energy on pigment/color. Hence the importance of tinted hair, and preferably a slightly paler skin than the hair, so that there is sufficient contrast. So the laser does not know it is a tattoo. It sees dark pigment, and it wants to energize that. The result is a superficial burn on the tattoo, as well as loss of color from your tattoo.

Which laser is the best for permanent hair removal and what is the difference between laser and IPL?

First of all, it is important that you have a real laser because laser is a beam of light/energy and therefore has a super focus. IPL is more broad-spectrum light, so it targets at different levels and therefore does not get as much energy in 1 particular place. Namely where the hair follicle is located, hence with IPL you also need multiple sessions. Our laser is the best because it delivers energy at 3 different depths. These depths have also been scientifically described as being the most efficient for hair removal. For example, a hair that is lighter in color or finer in texture is at a different depth than a dark, coarse hair. The best known is the Diode Laser, working at a depth of 810 nm. In addition, our laser also possesses Alexandrite wavelength and Nyag, each with their specific laser length.

How long should I stay out of the sun after laser hair removal?

The treated area itself should be kept out of the sun for at least 1 week, otherwise you have a chance of pigmentation disorders in the skin.

What does a tattoo/SPMU removal session cost?

Is a tattoo or SPMU removal painful?

To say that a tattoo / SPMU removal is not painful would not be correct. Fortunately, the treatment does not take long, you can compare it as if someone shoots a rubber band against your skin. After treatment, you have to take care of the wound like a burn.

Every how many weeks should I come back for a session?

On average, we leave 8 weeks between each session. That way, we are pretty sure that the skin has already recovered sufficiently before we schedule another session.

When will you see results from your tattoo removal?

How long the treatment takes depends on your tattoo / SPMU. Keep in mind that multiple treatments are required, with 8 weeks of rest each time between treatments. You will see the tattoo fade more each time and eventually disappear. Specifically, you will have results after each session, the tattoo / SPMU will become lighter and lighter.

On average, how many tattoo removal sessions do you need?

It takes an average of 2 sessions to laser away permanent makeup, to laser away tattoos it takes an average of 4 - 6 sessions. This is an average and so may be less or more. How many treatments you need to remove your tattoo / SPMU depends on the size, depth, ink colors and skin tone.

How long does Spider Vein treatment take?

The duration of a spider vein removal can vary between 15 - 45 min. If you are having a small area (a few veins) treated then you can get rid of it fairly quickly. If a larger area needs to be treated, such as the entire face, you should count on 45 minutes.

Is the Spider Vein Removal painful?

It is not painful. You can compare it to a warm rubber band hitting the skin. Some areas, such as the area around the nose, are more sensitive than other areas but usually this treatment is considered not painful.

Are multiple sessions required for Spider Vein Removal?

No, but it is possible that branching may return after 3 months. So at least three months must be left between treatments before they can take place again.

Can I exercise after a Spider Vein Removal?

You should not exercise for 24 hours after the treatment.

How long should I stay out of the sun after Spider Vein Removal?

The treated area should not be exposed to the sun for 1 week, otherwise you have a chance of pigmentation disorders in the skin. It is important to use Flamigel for the first three days. After this we recommend additional sun protection for up to 4 weeks after the treatment. You do this by applying sunblock to the treated area every day.

Can the Spider Vein Removal treatment also be done on the legs?

Yes you can, but we do not offer treatment for the legs. For this, it is best to make an appointment with a vascular surgeon.

Can I go under the tanning bed after a Spider Vein Removal treatment?

No, it is important to properly protect your skin from the sun and tanning beds four weeks before and after treatment. Therefore, we recommend not to go under the sunbed. It is also important to use sunscreen with a high protection factor.

When can I wear makeup again after PMU removal?

This depends on the healing process, when the scabs are gone. For example, when you no longer have scabs after 3-4 days, you can wear makeup again.

Can I exercise after tattoo/PMU removal?

Do not exercise for the first 2-3 days after a tattoo / PMU removal.

Why do my eyebrows look red after a PMU removal session with the tattoo laser?

First, the eyebrows look red because they have just been lasered, this will disappear within 3 days on average. If after 3 days there is still a soft salmon pink shine in the skin then this indicates residual pigment from your old eyebrow treatment. How does this come about? Well, the brown color of your SPMU was built up from: black, red, yellow. The red color always stays in the skin the longest and the standard laser wavelength to remove the brown color of your old pmu is 1064, this wavelength only works on black. So if your brown SPMU color contained a lot of red pigment then it will now show up because all the black pigment is gone. The red color can only be removed with a different wavelength. This will then be done in another session because we are not allowed to combine these sessions due to too much risk of scarring the skin.

From when can I have my tattoo / pmu lasered away if I am not satisfied with the result?

If you are not satisfied with your new tattoo or PMU, you may only have it lasered away after 4 to 6 months

When can I have another tattoo / pmu after having old ones lasered away?

You may not do this until after 8 weeks.

Mag ik laserontharing laten doen op littekens?

Ja, laserontharing kan op littekens, maar alleen als het litteken volledig genezen en minimaal 6-12 maanden oud is. Donkere littekens kunnen anders reageren door het pigment, en er is kans op irritatie of kleurverandering. Overleg met een specialist is dus aangeraden.

Waarom kleuren mijn lippen grijs na het verwijderen van de permanente make up?

Bij het verwijderen van permanente make up op de lippen kan het zijn dat je TIJDELIJK een grijze verkleuring krijgt. Dit is het gevolg van witte pigmenten die bij de rode pigmenten werden gevoegd om de juiste lipkleur te verkrijgen. 3 dagen na je behandeling mag je dit wel camoufleren. Je zal dus extra sessies nodig hebben om deze grijze kleur te verwijderen. In 50% van de gevallen komt er een grijze verkleuring tevoorschijn die we pas in de volgende sessie kunnen verwijderen.
