  • The bone around the jawline partially dissolves, and the soft tissues lose their strength. In women, you may also notice that the chin begins to move backward. These features contribute to the loss of structural support in the jawline area. This loss of structural support in the jaw also contributes to neck aging.

How do we choose the right dose of jawline filler?

The dosage required for jawline filler is highly variable. It depends on the anatomy and the desired result. Some patients will be satisfied with 1 ml, others will need 4 ml or more to get the desired result. The doctor will assess your face and see exactly what you need to get the desired result. Everything is also discussed in detail with the patient first; if a more subtle result is desired, a smaller dose can be chosen to start with, and we can slowly build up from there. Your budget also plays a role in the dosage of your filler.

How does jawline filler treatment work?

Before starting, the doctor will discuss with you what your wishes are and what options are available. We always take a constructive approach so that you can expect more beautiful results and that there is no overtreatment. The last thing both you and we want is too many Fillers injected. Your needs and desires will be discussed in detail with the doctors. You will also know the cost before we begin treatment. For the jawline or jawline, we usually start with 2 ml of filler on a first treatment. The face is cleaned with chlorhexidine. If using a cannula, a small injection of local anesthetic is injected into the skin and then a needle makes a small hole in the skin where the cannula is inserted. The doctor injects the filler with a fine needle, then pressure is applied with gauze to minimize the risk of bruising. When the patient says, "I liked the swelling after the last treatment and was disappointed when it went away," we advise patients to inject another 2 ml and repeat this until they don't like the swelling after that.

Does jawline filler treatment hurt?

We do not choose local anesthetic ointment because we work with Fillers that already contain a small amount of anesthetic. So you will only feel a small prick and then nothing more. If a cannula is used, a local anesthetic may be used before the cannula is inserted into the skin. Ice can be used to reduce pain and reduce the chance of bruising.

Are there any side effects or risks associated with jawline Fillers?

Bruising can sometimes occur. Swelling occurs in the injection area, it usually disappears within 48 h. Asymmetry: sometimes one side is treated better than the other, this is usually because the patient is asymmetrical to begin with. Infection is a very rare complication, but always a possibility when the needle goes into the skin. Necrosis (blood vessel is blocked, disrupting the blood supply to the skin) is very rare. We always have Hyalase available so that we can intervene immediately should anything occur. Need for further treatment: if you want more volume in the jawline, additional treatment is indicated. Please note this is a list of all the risks that can occur and are fortunately extremely rare!

Aftercare for jawline fillers

What can you expect after a jawline filler?

The effect of the filler will be immediately apparent. There may be redness, bruising or swelling. Patients often like the swelling in the first few days 🙂 Most of the swelling from the filler will be gone 2-3 days after the procedure. Even up to 4 weeks after the procedure, minor swelling may still be present. Sometimes asymmetry will occur because one side is more swollen or bruised. Usually this will correct itself by the time of the checkup appointment. It does not make sense to visit earlier than 3 weeks to treat asymmetry, as there is often swelling associated with it, so the final result will not be seen until at least 2 weeks later. Treating asymmetry too early can lead to further asymmetry. Most jawlines are asymmetrical to begin with, and treating them will take several treatments.

How long does jawline filler treatment take?

Count on being with us in the Clinic for at least 45 min. Just before placing the filler, everything is discussed in detail first. The placement of the jawline filler itself takes about 20 min.

How long do the results of a jawline filler last?

The answer to this is highly individual and depends on the patient's anatomy, metabolism, dose, placement, product, etc. If the patient is satisfied with the results after 1 month (i.e., sufficient filler has been injected), they can then be treated after 8 months or 1 year. If the patient is not satisfied with the results after 1 month (i.e., more filler is needed to achieve the desired results), then more filler must be injected to achieve the desired appearance. After that, one can be treated after 8 months or 1 year. So once your desired results are achieved, the filler will stay on average 8 months to 1 year.
