How does the BTX migraine treatment work?

  • In BTX migraine treatment, we reduce the amount of neurotransmitters involved in the onset of migraine attacks.

How does the treatment proceed?

BTX migraine is a relatively short procedure that takes no more than 10 - 15 minutes. We briefly go over the process with you:

  • You discuss the problem with the doctor beforehand
  • The doctor disinfects the area being treated
  • We inject the btx with a very fine needle
  • After treatment, you can resume your daily activities
  • We only ask that you do not exercise the day itself

What result can I expect?

Within 3-5 days you will notice the first results, but they are small compared to the effective result that can only be felt after 10-14 days. After that, you notice a retroughion in the frequency and intensity of migraines. The effect lasts for about 3 to 4 months. The more often the treatment is repeated, the longer it takes for the effect of the btx to wear off.

How do muscle relaxants or wrinkle injections work?

Muscle relaxant injections are injected into the facial muscles with a fine needle. This blocks the message from the nerve to the muscle. This will reduce the amount of contraction of that muscle and the lines start to become less visible, or even disappear completely.

How long does the effect of muscle relaxants or wrinkle injections last?

After 2-8 days, wrinkles begin to diminish. After 4 weeks, the maximum effect is achieved. From 6-8 weeks, the result is maintained. After 8 weeks, the effect begins to slowly diminish. After 12 weeks the effect is about 50% less, after 4 months the effect decreases by 80%. Most patients opt for a repeat treatment around 3-4 months, but this varies from patient to patient. Men, athletes and those who are more muscular may tend to need larger doses and more frequent doses.

Are muscle relaxants (btx) safe?

Wrinkle injections are a medical treatment prescribed and performed by a physician that carries risks. Generally, these procedures are considered low risk for complications.

What risks and side effects may occur with muscle relaxants (btx)?

Are muscle relaxants (btx) painful?

You will therefore spend an average of 30 min in our clinic.

What is the aftercare after treatment with muscle relaxants?

our doctor may advise you to frown or use other facial expressions several times a day for the first few days avoid putting pressure on the treated area for 24-48 hours after treatment DO NOT massage the injection area!!! At least 24 hours after treatment do not apply makeup for 6-8 hours after treatment (until the next morning is even better).

Follow-up and treatment duration of muscle relaxants

After your initial treatment, you will generally be invited for a follow-up appointment about 2 weeks after your initial treatment. This allows the doctor to review your results. To maintain your results it is recommended that you have regular treatments, you can discuss this with your doctor at the time of your treatment.

How does botox work in the lips?
