After 2-8 days, wrinkles begin to diminish. After 4 weeks, the maximum effect is achieved. From 6-8 weeks, the result is maintained. After 8 weeks, the effect begins to slowly diminish. After 12 weeks the effect is about 50% less, after 4 months the effect decreases by 80%. Most patients opt for a repeat treatment around 3-4 months, but this varies from patient to patient. Men, athletes and those who are more muscular may tend to need larger doses and more frequent doses.

Were there complications such as drooping of the eyelids or sagging of the eyebrows or "spocking"? Did the effect of the anti-wrinkle injections last well? Which area came back first? How is the patient's metabolism? Do they exercise? Are they very muscular? Is it the vertical frown line or the horizontal line between the eyebrows that bothers the patient or both? Does the patient want a more natural look, with some more movement, or does he want maximum effect?

The doctor will assess the face and decide on the best dose after taking a history and examining the patient. If the patient has a history of poor longevity, or needs high doses or wants maximum effect, a higher dose may be suggested. If a patient has a history of complications with muscle relaxant injections, or if their budget is small or they want a more subtle result, then a smaller dose may be chosen.

"Spocking" sometimes occurs because the physician is careful to avoid sagging of the eyebrow at the outer corners. This can be quickly remedied by doing a minor correction.

There are some patients who are unsuitable for the treatment of horizontal forehead lines. E.g. those who really need blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery, with excessive upper eyelid skin hanging over their eyes. When horizontal forehead wrinkles are treated in these people, slight sagging of the eyelids will be a problem. Sometimes patients with very large foreheads or receding hairlines do not like the treatment because when the forehead is relaxed, the forehead can appear larger and the hairline can be pulled back even further.
