What is a BTX Lip Flip?

This is a cosmetic treatment in which a small amount of btx is injected into the muscles around the lips. The btx relaxes the muscles and causes the lips to lift slightly, making them more visible and the lip edge appear more defined.

The upper lip is optically larger because the muscles are relaxed, but in reality no volume has been added at all. As a result, you hardly notice that you have had anything done to your lips.

Fillers VS BTX Lip Flip

Although both treatments are intended to enlarge the lips, each has different effects.

Lip Flip

In the Lip Flip, we inject btx into the orbicularis oris muscle. This circular muscle surrounds the mouth and allows our lips to squeeze together. When we relax this muscle, it reduces the tension on the upper lip causing it to come up. It helps prevent the upper lip from disappearing when you smile, thereby giving you a fuller pout without the addition of fillers.

Lipfiller

In contrast, lip fillers involve injecting a hyaluronic acid-based filler to add extra volume, making them fuller. The effect of lip fillers is immediate and can range from subtle to very dramatic, depending on the amount of filler used.

How does the treatment proceed?

What result can I expect?

  • Within 3-4 days you will see the first results but they are small compared to the effective result which will be visible only after 10-14 days. After which you will have natural pouty lips and a radiant smile.
  • The effect lasts for about 3 to 4 months after which you can repeat the treatment.

How do muscle relaxants or wrinkle injections work?

Muscle relaxant injections are injected into the facial muscles with a fine needle. This blocks the message from the nerve to the muscle. This will reduce the amount of contraction of that muscle and the lines start to become less visible, or even disappear completely.

How long does the effect of muscle relaxants or wrinkle injections last?

After 2-8 days, wrinkles begin to diminish. After 4 weeks, the maximum effect is achieved. From 6-8 weeks, the result is maintained. After 8 weeks, the effect begins to slowly diminish. After 12 weeks the effect is about 50% less, after 4 months the effect decreases by 80%. Most patients opt for a repeat treatment around 3-4 months, but this varies from patient to patient. Men, athletes and those who are more muscular may tend to need larger doses and more frequent doses.

Are muscle relaxants (btx) safe?

Wrinkle injections are a medical treatment prescribed and performed by a physician that carries risks. Generally, these procedures are considered low risk for complications.

What risks and side effects may occur with muscle relaxants (btx)?

Are muscle relaxants (btx) painful?

The pain is minimal. You will feel a small prick. When the product is injected, there may be a stinging sensation that will disappear within seconds. The procedure itself takes about 5 minutes, but at your appointment you will need to take pictures and sign a consent form and the treated area will be disinfected. You will therefore spend an average of 30 min in our clinic.

What is the aftercare after treatment with muscle relaxants?

our doctor may advise you to frown or use other facial expressions several times a day for the first few days avoid putting pressure on the treated area for 24-48 hours after treatment DO NOT massage the injection area!!! At least 24 hours after treatment do not apply makeup for 6-8 hours after treatment (until the next morning is even better).

Follow-up and treatment duration of muscle relaxants

After your initial treatment, you will generally be invited for a follow-up appointment about 2 weeks after your initial treatment. This allows the doctor to review your results. To maintain your results it is recommended that you have regular treatments, you can discuss this with your doctor at the time of your treatment.

How does botox work in the lips?

A muscle relaxant/Botox is injected with a very small needle at specific therapeutic sites. It has the desired effect by blocking the impulses that nerves in the face need to constrict.
