What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is an age reverser. It is a unique injectable collagen biostimulator composed of microparticles of biodegradable polylactic acid (PLLA). This is a natural substance that is also produced by our own bodies. It addresses the root cause of collagen loss which is the key to firmer and rejuvenated skin.

What is the effect of Sculptra?
- We inject Sculptra into the deep dermis layer, this causes a renewed production of the body's own collagen.
- As your own collagen production is triggered, the skin's structure and volume will be restored and the face will be lifted.
- After a few days, your body fully absorbs the liquid to then start collagen production after 4 weeks.
- Over a period of 4 weeks to 3 months, collagen building will gradually replenish the volume of the face. Thus, deeper wrinkles and fine lines will diminish and the skin will feel more elastic, plump and firm.
Sculptra: natural result
- The collagen stimulator (Sculptra) naturally restores the underlying structure of the skin, this ensures a natural result. Depending on lifestyle habits, age, skin quality and expectation of results, you will need up to 3 treatments of Sculptra.
- An interval of 1 to 2 months is needed between these 3 treatments. When the 3 sessions are over, the doctor recommends coming back after 6 months for a booster shot. After this, you will return each year for another booster shot. The results of Sculptra become gradually visible after treatment and may last for 2.5 to 3 years.
Aftercare
What should I do after the Sculptra treatment?
To ensure optimal results and a long-lasting effect of the sculptra, it is important to follow the doctor's aftercare instructions carefully. The aftercare recommendations are as follows:
- The 555 rule: massage the treated area 5 times a day for 5 minutes for 5 days after treatment. (Make use of a moisturizer to reduce friction while massaging)
- To reduce swelling, apply an ice compress to the treated area in the first 24 hours after treatment. (Note: wrap the compress in a towel, do not put ice directly on the skin!)
- If there are no complications, you may return to using makeup a few hours after the Sculptra treatment.
- Avoid sun and tanning bed exposure until swelling and redness disappear.
- Avoid 24-hour saunas/steam rooms.
- You may take Dafalgan if you experience mild sensitivity/discomfort.
- After treatment, there is slight swelling and redness with a chance of bruising. These symptoms disappear after about 7 days. You can apply or take Arnica to reduce bruising.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to UV radiation until redness/swelling has subsided. Use SPF 50.
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours to reduce bruising. You may resume other normal activities/routines immediately.
- Avoid laser, IPL or skin tension treatments of the area for at least 2-3 weeks.
- You may use your topical products 1 week after the injection.
