Using fillers in the face against signs of aging

We are all getting older. Some people are more at peace with that than others. Unfortunately, with aging comes some ailments that we would rather get rid of. From fine wrinkles to deep grooves, our face changes a lot. Applying fillers to the face is therefore a very popular cosmetic treatment to address your aging skin.

Maybe you have been applying sunscreen every day for years or using retinol-based ointments without sufficient results. Or were you in the sun a lot without protection, causing your skin to start looking old at an early age?

Whatever the case may be, you are dissatisfied with how your skin looks and would like to regain a youthful, fresh look. One of the best means of creating a youthful look is facial filler treatment.

Be sure to read on if you want to discover what filler treatments an esthetician can perform against facial aging. You will see that there are customized solutions for each area of the face to address aging.

What do I need, botox or fillers?

Before you choose fillers in your face, you need to be sure that fillers are indeed the solution to your problem. To know whether you need a botox treatment or treatment with fillers for each type of wrinkle, you need to understand how both substances work.

What causes you to get wrinkles?

Everyone who ages has to deal with wrinkles. Some have been luckier than others. On top of that, you may have worn factor 50 every day all your life to protect your face from the sun preventively while others sunbathe all day unprotected.

Regardless of your genes and your own efforts to protect the skin from aging, you will have to deal with wrinkles anyway. This is because your skin loses collagen on the one hand and produces less elastin on the other. To know how to treat wrinkles, you need to know that there are different types of wrinkles.

Wrinkles due to less collagen and elastin

  • As we age, we produce less and less collagen and elastin. These substances are responsible for keeping the skin firm and supple. Sunlight and smoking also damage collagen and elastin in the skin.
  • As a result, our skin begins to sag a bit as age progresses. You get puffiness, droopy jaws, or the corners of your mouth sag a bit. Furthermore, your skin also produces less and less sebum, so it retains less moisture and no longer looks as full.

Deep wrinkles caused by repetitive expressions

  • In addition to a decrease in the production of collagen and elastin, wrinkles can also result from repeating certain movements for years. Typical examples of expression wrinkles are frown lines and laugh lines.

What type of wrinkle requires what treatment?

Expression wrinkles

  • Muscle relaxants are capable of relaxing certain muscles. Therefore, it is not surprising that you can easily use them to combat expression wrinkles. Typical areas where you apply Botox are the eyes(crow's feet), the eyebrows(frown), the cheeks (bunny lines) and the forehead.

Static wrinkles

  • The hydrophilic action of Hyaluronic acid makes it a very effective wrinkle filler. A Hyaluronic Acid filler is therefore used primarily for static wrinkles caused by gravity.
  • Static wrinkles are mostly seen at the level of the cheekbones, eyes and mouth. Just think of the crease that runs from the side of lips to the mouth, hanging corners of the mouth or drooping cheeks. With facial fillers, you can restore volume to the affected areas in no time.

Types of fillers face against aging

As you can read above, aging symptoms in the face occur at different levels. For example, some people will suffer more from puffiness while others will experience sagging cheeks.

Fortunately, there is a customized facial filler treatment for each area. For some zones, there are even multiple types of filler treatment, depending on what exactly you are suffering from.

Treatments at the level of the lips

At the level of the lips, fillers can be used for many reasons. Hyaluronic acid is injected into the lips with a very thin needle or cannula to counteract loss of volume.

Fillers face upperface

  • In this area, the cosmetic doctor inserts fillers at the level of the temples and under the eyes. With this, he gives the treated areas more volume. As a result, the skin will look fuller, more hydrated and younger.

Fillers face midface

  • In this zone belong the treatments of the cheeks. Depending on the state of the cheeks, fillers are applied to a different area of the face. The nasolabial folds also belong to this part of the face and are addressed with a liquid face lift.

Fillers face lower face

  • The lower part of the face logically includes the lips. As mentioned earlier, the lips are very susceptible to signs of aging. The chin and jawline are also addressed by cosmetic doctors in the process.

Prices fillers face

  • Not unimportant are the prices of facial fillers in Belgium. At Sarasin, we charge prices per syringe. The cheapest options are the lip filler, cheekbone filler, jawline filler and chin filler. For these, you pay 350 euros per syringe, respectively. This is followed by the nose and tear trough filler. These filler treatments cost 400 euros per syringe of 1ml. The most expensive filler treatment is the liquid face lift, because it requires several syringes.
  • Since the price per syringe counts, the final price tag depends on how much filler you need for the filler treatment. Exactly how much filler you need before filler treatment is decided by your treating physician.
  • Prices for fillers fluctuate on average between 300 and 400 euros. Very cheap treatments are best avoided. This is because poor quality fillers may be injected into your skin. It is also possible that the cosmetic doctor performing the treatment does not have sufficient knowledge and experience. In such cases, treatment with fillers can be harmful.

Is treatment with Hyaluronic Acid filler painful?

  • Above you can read all about the benefits of cosmetic treatments with filler. A filler treatment can restore volume and smooth out the skin, so to speak. However, there is also a downside to the coin .
  • One of the questions most often asked is about whether filler treatment is painful. Our answer? Not really. It feels somewhat like a pinprick. Suppose you have a low pain threshold, you may choose to use a numbing cream. Sometimes the anesthetic is also included in the filler, so it is inserted during the treatment itself via small injections.
  • After treatment, the treated area may still be somewhat sensitive. This is often due to swelling or bruising around the treated area. Such side effects are completely normal and should disappear within three days.
