What is Lipofilling?

Lipofilling is one of the most emerging and promising aesthetic facial treatments. Lipofilling uses your own fat cells to fill wrinkles or create volume in the face.

The fat extracted from the buttock or abdominal region is used to fill in facial wrinkles, for example, or to add volume to the lips. The result is very natural and permanent, and the risks are extremely limited. Often lipofilling is combined with another procedure, such as a facelift and/or eyelid surgery.

Would you like to enlarge the hips or pooch with your own fat? This is also possible, then one speaks mainly about liposculpture with BBL

What areas are eligible for facial lipofilling?

Lipofilling from your own body fat has many possibilities:

  • The nasolabial fold (deep fold between nose and mouth) can be eliminated thanks to lipofilling by giving more volume to the cheekbones so you get a lifting of the midface.
  • You can also fill the grooves under the eyes or tear trough with your own fat.
  • Filling thin lips.
  • You can bring the chin forward more, this will give you more projection in profile view.
  • Making the jawline sharper this will give you the typical tight jawline.

Discuss comprehensive options with the surgeon during the consultation.

The treatment in lipofilling face

  • First, there will be a consultation where the plastic surgeon can determine if lipofilling is possible for you. He will explain which surgical techniques are most appropriate for you, and discuss their advantages and disadvantages.
  • All our procedures are performed in the safest conditions by our experienced plastic surgeon and his assisting team. Your procedure is performed in sterile conditions.
  • Lipofilling is usually performed under general anesthesia unless it is a small area then we opt for local anesthesia. The anesthesia not only ensures a pain-free procedure but also minimal blood loss and bruising. Through liposuction, by means of suction signals, own fatty tissue is removed and reinserted at the desired location of the body.
  • The duration of treatment depends on the extent of lipofilling.
  • You may go home shortly after treatment, the same day.

Recovery and aftercare for lipofilling face

  • After treatment, most people do not have much pain symptoms, although some swelling or bruising may occur. This usually recovers in 1 to 2 weeks.
  • For the first week, we advise you to eat soft foods with small bites. The areas where the liposuction was performed usually bother you the most. These can be sensitive.
  • Feeling in your face remains normal. In the beginning, temporarily reduced sensitivity may occur. It is important to take it easy for the first few weeks and not lift or exert yourself heavily, so that the transplanted fat can grow in properly.
  • In most cases you can return to work after 2 weeks (note: no heavy physical work). After 6 weeks you can slowly resume sports and after 8 weeks you will see the final results.

Result lipofilling face

Usually, the result of lipofilling is well visible after 6 weeks. It is assumed that much of the injected fat remains in the treated area. However, it is sometimes necessary to repeat the treatment, if a small part of the injected fat tissue is broken down. It is best to assume that you will lose about 30% of the injected fat back within 6 months after surgery.
