How does the microneedling treatment proceed?
By now you know that microneedling significantly improves the skin texture of the area to be treated. But how does the treatment work now? Can you enjoy immediate results? What does the treatment plan look like? We'd like to explain that to you here.
Precaution
- For skin rejuvenation, you need time, but you especially need collagen. To stimulate your skin's collagen production properly and at a high rate, we give you collagen supplements . You take these at least 4 weeks before the treatment and up to 3 months afterwards.
- The sun can cause serious damage to the skin. Therefore, we recommend avoiding the sun, fake tanning and solarium for 2 weeks before treatment. It is also better to use a high SPF when you leave the house.
- Do you suffer from cold sores? Then you better take Aciclovir 200 mg 3 times a day, and preferably for at least 4 days before your session.
During treatment
- When you come into our office, we first make sure the skin is cleansed and we apply an numbing cream application, which will take effect for a while. This will minimize any discomfort. Then we get to work with our toolsA microneedling device consists of a number of activated' fine needles which pass over the skin in rotary movements. The needles create tiny holes or microchannels in the skin, which stimulates the skin's collagen production.
- Once the skin is perforated, we send the RF or radio frequency through the microchannels. This heats up the dermis layer of the skin so that it produces more collagen and elastin. The structure of the skin will change: your skin becomes tighter and your wrinkles largely disappear. As a result, we speak of a younger skin.
Aftercare
- The collagen supplements you will continue to take for 3 months after treatment. Up to 3 days after the treatment, you will also need to apply an antibiotic ointment to counteract any inflammation or complications.
- Even after our treatment, direct exposure to the sun remains a culprit. Therefore, in both summer and winter, try SPF 50 so that the effect of the treatment can last longer.
- For 2 days after the treatment it is best not swim or do heavy exercises do. Also make-up is also best left out for about three days.

- For best results, it is better to undergo a series of treatments: we recommend a package of 5 treatments, but certainly a minimum of 3. After that you can come back for maintenance whenever you want, although a minimum of 2 times a year is advised.
