Hair transplant before and after: hair filler has similar results

Hair filler as a possible alternative to hair transplantation

If you look at the pictures below, you would think you are seeing before and after pictures of a hair transplant. But nothing could be further from the truth. They are before and after pictures of people who have been treated with our hair filler or hair filler!

Crazy right? However, it gets even crazier. Most of the photos show people who are still in the process of treatment. In other words, they have only completed one, two or three of the four treatments. Yet you can see in the before and after photos that hair growth in the treated area has already increased substantially!

Hair filler can be a great alternative to hair transplantation. The only condition for a successful hair filler treatment is that hair cells are still present. If this is not the case, the treatment can unfortunately do little for you.

Are you curious about what the difference is between a hair filler and a hair transplant? Or do you want to know the pros and cons of a hair transplant and hair filler? Then this blog is for you!

When do you opt for a hair transplant or hair fillers?

Both options serve people dealing with hair loss. For that, there are several causes of hair loss. If you are dealing with hair loss, a hair transplant or hair filler can provide relief.

Hair loss or hair loss?

  • We speak of hair loss when you lose more hair than the "normal amount. That normal amount is between the 50 and 120 hairs per day. That natural phenomenon of losing hair is called hair loss.
  • With hair loss, you will find that you suffer from very thin hair and sometimes even bald patches, depending on what is causing your hair loss. Both men and women can experience hair loss.
  • So because a reducing hairline, bald patches and thin and dull hair can lead to a lot of insecurities , there are techniques to stimulate new hair growth: the hair transplant, the hair filler and PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma).
  • In this blog, however, we use the terms hair loss and hair loss interchangeably. Know that by hair loss, we are also referring to hair loss.

Hair transplantation before and after: new hair growth

A hair transplant is by far the most well-known option to address hair loss. In a hair transplant, the hair follicles or grafts moved from the donor area to the target area.

Transplanted hairs provide new hair growth

In the targeted area, hair follicles start to provide new hair growth, which can address bald patches or a reducing hairline. A hair transplant is a permanent solution to hair loss.

There is, of course, a but. There is a lot involved before and after a hair transplant. Below we sum up what you definitely need to know before embarking on a hair transplant and what to expect after treatment.

Hair transplant before and after: what do you need to know?

Hair transplantation for whom?

  • Although a hair transplant is very well known, it does not offer a solution for everyone. Whether a hair transplant is a solution for you depends on the cause of your hair loss.
  • On top of that, you must also have enough hair in the donor area. This is often the hair at the back of your head. If the hair density there is not optimal, you will not have enough hair to transplant and thus transplantation is not an option.

Hair transplantation before and after: final result visible after 9 to 12 months

  • You often have to wait a very long time before you see the results of a hair transplant. It takes between 9 and 12 months before the new hair growth is clearly visible. That means you have to be very patient.
  • An added disadvantage is that the new hair is often not as thick as your original hair. Do you dream of a beautiful, full head of hair all over your head? Then it is possible that a hair transplant will not give the results you hope for.

A hair transplant is an invasive and pricey procedure

  • Finally, we also like to mention that a hair transplant is a fairly invasive treatment for the scalp. To give you an indication: a hair transplant takes an average of 8 hours.
  • The cost can also add up quickly. You will pay at least $3,000 for the treatment and, depending on how advanced the hair loss is, you will pay more money for the treatment.

Hair transplant before and after: hair transplant recovery

  • After the treatment, you should also allow at least a week for the recovery process. Thus, you cannot simply continue with your daily activities after the treatment and will probably need to take a week's vacation or more for optimal recovery.
Hair Filler

Hair filler as a possible alternative to hair transplantation

Since a hair transplant is very invasive, it is not the best choice for everyone. Because many people considering a hair transplant are also helped by a hair filler, we are happy to explain this option for you.

What is a hair filler?

  • A hair filler is a injectable based peptide-hyaluronic acid. The injections restore the hair follicles and make the scalp healthier. With a hair filler, for example, you can also avoid needing a hair transplant because it keeps the scalp healthy.
  • It has been scientifically proven that this reduces hair loss while stronger, healthier hair grows back in the treated area. A hair filler can closely mimic the results of a hair transplant.

How does it work?

  • Unlike a hair transplant, a hair filler is not an invasive procedure. The attending esthetician or nurse practitioner will use a very thin needle to apply the filler into the hair follicles of the scalp.
  • Although you often need several sessions (an average of 4 for optimal results), you will be able to notice nice results after just 1 session. For example, in the picture below you can see the result of 1 session. After the first treatment, hair loss already stops.
  • We offer different protocols: standard treatment or intensive treatment. The attending physician or nurse will advise you what is the best option for you.
  • After the first treatment, not only the hair loss will stop. From then on, the hyaluronic acid and peptides in the filler ensure that blood circulation is stimulated and the hair follicles are activated. This results in faster regrowth of hair that is also thicker and firmer.

How long does a hair filler treatment last?

  • On average, the treatment itself takes about 15 to 30 minutes. Much less so than the eight-hour procedure involved in a hair transplant. After treatment, you will also barely need time for recovery.
  • However, you will need to care for your hair with a product we provide to promote successful recovery. After the treatment, the doctor or nurse in charge will also give you instructions for aftercare so that the scalp can recover properly.

Below we explain if you qualify for hair filler treatment.

What do you need: a hair filler or a hair transplant?

  • As you read above, hair transplants are very invasive. Because they are often not the best solution for everyone, we explain here in conclusion whether such a treatment is really necessary for you.
  • We already mentioned it: if there are no hair follicles left, you cannot address your (incipient) baldness or bald spots with a hair filler. Then it's better to opt for a hair transplant.
  • Since the hairs that grow back after the hair transplant are fairly thin, you can use hair fillers to make the transplanted hairs thicker and firmer and to keep the scalp healthy. So a hair filler treatment can also be a nice complement to a transplant.
  • If it is an option for you it is better to choose hair fillers than a hair transplant. This is because the cost of such a treatment is much lower, the results match the results of a hair transplant and the treatment is much less invasive.
