Filler wrinkles

Would you like to regain a fresh and youthful appearance without wrinkles? Or are you okay with wrinkles but are you annoyed by that one frown line or those annoying crow's feet? Then fillers are the way to go. We explain for you how fillers work and what they can do for you.

Filler: what is it and how does it work?

What is a filler?

Everyone talks about fillers all the time, but very few people know exactly what a filler is. For many, it remains a vague concept and some even think that fillers are "bad. Are they?

Nope! The base of a filler is hyaluronic acid, and guess what: hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in our bodies. So you're not injecting "plastic" into your skin at all, as some claim.

However, we do like to make a sidenote. There are two types of fillers: temporary and permanent. It is mainly the temporary fillers that are always safe.

The permanent filler

Permanent fillers exist but are banned in Belgium because they are not safe for use. There are several brands of permanent fillers. Examples include Dermolive, Bio-alcamid and Aquamid.

The risk of complications with permanent fillers is enormous. At Sarasin Clinic, we only choose safe fillers, and those are hyaluronic acid-based fillers, also known as temporary fillers.

Temporary hyaluronic acid fillers

By now you already know that hyaluronic acid is a substance native to the body. But what is that hyaluronic acid, why is it interesting and how can we use a filler based on this substance against wrinkles? Let's get sciencey!

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid plays an important role in our body. Namely, the substance is responsible for the supple and resilient our skin. Hyaluronic acid gives our skin volume, so that everything stays nicely in place.

Unfortunately, as we age, the production of hyaluronic acid decreases. The result? Saggy skin and yes: wrinkles. If only there was a way to give your skin a boost with extra hyaluronic acid...

Of course there is: the filler! By injecting hyaluronic acid into your skin, you can temporarily provide your skin with volume where needed. Why temporary? Because hyaluronic acid is the body's own substance. This means that the body will break down the substance over time. break down. But no worries, a repeat treatment is always possible! Bye bye wrinkles, hello tight and youthful skin.

An injection of fillers exists for wrinkles in the following areas:

  • Smoking lines
  • Collapsed temples
  • Crow's feet
  • Chin correction
  • Nose-lip crease

Using fillers to fight wrinkles

Fillers add volume to the skin, making them the perfect tool to combat static wrinkles. Static wrinkles are those wrinkles that are always visible, even if your face is completely relaxed. Want to know more about wrinkles? Find out here more information.

Static wrinkles are caused by a combination of several factors: the decrease of collagen and elastin in the skin and strong activity in an underlying mimic muscle. The older you get, the more static wrinkles you get. Typical examples of static wrinkles are wrinkles under the eyes (crow's feet) and the frown line.

In the skin, the filler is going to attract moisture. This causes the skin at the site of the injection to become nice and tight again. The static wrinkle is as it were filledand the skin is nice and smooth again..

A lunchtime treatment

A filler treatment is anything but intensive. Your treating physician will use a very fine needle to insert injections into the area to be treated. In 15 to 30 minutes the job is done and you can walk out again. Hence the name: lunchtime treatmentbecause you literally do it during your lunch break can have it done.

Is filler treatment painful?

It may look a little painful, such a needle penetrating your skin. But let us reassure you: our patients report that the treatment is not painful is. At most, it feels a little uncomfortable. With the anesthetic contained in the filler, we ensure that even the slightest discomfort is kept to an absolute minimum.

After the treatment, you may experience slight swelling and sensitivity in the treated area. However, this will completely subside after 48h. After that, you can fully enjoy the results of the treatment!

The benefits of filler treatment

A filler treatment has a lot of benefits. We list below the main benefits of filler:

  1. Your skin stays in better condition because with fillers you fight skin aging and wrinkles.
  2. Due to the bioactive substance, the treatment is immediately visible after the fillers are injected.
  3. The effect of fillers is temporary. So if you should ever not want fillers again or change your mind, it is not a problem at all!
  4. With fillers, we can be very flexible. You can go with the beauty trends or you can choose to inject a little more fillers next time, for example, for a more prominent result.
  5. A filler will hydrate your skin. So using hyaluronic acid is beneficial to the condition of your skin and facial hydration.

Side effects or complications

Although the treatment is very safe, there can always be possible side effects or complications. We list them for you below. At Sarasin Clinic, we maintain the highest standards of hygiene and safety to prevent such complications as much as possible.

The most common complications are:

  • Slight swelling, itching or red skin after treatment. You will always suffer from this after a treatment, this is not an exception. After two days, however, the swelling will be completely gone.
  • Hard lumps: In some cases, the filler can be encapsulated and small lumps develop. When this happens, it is possible to dissolve the filler using hyaluronidase.
  • Tyndall effect: The Tyndall effect is a blue discoloration of the skin. This can occur if the wrong filler is used, too much of the filler is used or if the filler is placed too superficially. By choosing an expert like the one you will find at Sarasin Clinic, you can avoid such complications.
  • Blood vessel entrapment: When a filler is injected into a blood vessel (or in large amounts near a blood vessel), the skin can be deprived of blood. You can also avoid this complication by choosing expert treatment.

So from these complications we can conclude one thing: it is very important to choose treatment by an expert. And yes, you can find one at Sarasin Clinic! Meet our team.
