How long do
fillers last?

Fillers consist of hyaluronic acid. This substance occurs naturally in our bodies.

Hyaluronic acid has three properties that benefit the skin: it fills, hydrates and firms.
A filler is used to add volume. This can be done in the face, neck and hands. Thus, thanks to a filler, we can restore volume or fill wrinkles.

The hyaluronic acid in a filler will also attract moisture, so you are literally hydrating the skin.

How long do fillers last?

How long the results of fillers remain beautiful depends on the quality of the filler and how quickly the body breaks down the filler. This can vary from person to person and cannot be predicted exactly in advance. There are several fillers on the market and the longevity of a filler depends mainly on crosslinking.

A lip filler is softer (read less crosslinking) than e.g. a filler we use to lift the cheeks.

The stronger a filler, the longer it remains present.
It is often said that the filler can last up to more than 12 months, but so this depends mainly on the type of filler and for which indication it was used.

Fillers are built up in phases. In the first phase, it is broken down faster (3-6month). Afterwards, you can easily keep the filler for 6-12 months.
After this period you still enjoy your treatment. Thanks to the hyaluronic acid, your skin has produced more collagen, giving it a fresher appearance.

At Sarasin Clinic, we offer fillers from the best A brands: Restylane, Stylage, Aliaxin

Don't like the result of your fillers?

Have you had fillers injected elsewhere and are not satisfied? Then you can also decide to undo the fillers. A sort of refresh button. The doctor can inject a special enzyme into your lips (hyaluronidase), which dissolves the hyaluronic acid.

We offer this treatment at Sarasin Clinic. The price for dissolving a filler with hyaluronidase is 150 Euro, chances are depending on the volume to be dissolved you will need another 2 the treatment.

Aren't there fillers that last forever?

Many people would love for this to be a big YES!!! Unfortunately permanent fillers are banned.

BUT, what you can consider is to have your lips filled with your own fat, i.e.: lipofilling of the lips. Lip augmentation through lipofilling has long-lasting, permanent results.

Almost everyone wants to look younger, but no one wants to look like they went to a cosmetic clinic for filler injections. Our doctors combine their aesthetic sense, advanced training and experience with filler treatments to create a refreshed and rested appearance that our patients love.

Permanent fillers are banned, why?

It's not that it didn't exist. Fillers used to be permanent. They were made of silicone.

Permanent fillers are not correctable as hyaluronic acid fillers are. At the time, it was also unknown what permanent fillers did in the long term. Simply because it was a new product with no research into its long-term effects.

Unfortunately, many complications and problems arose. These are the consequences of permanent fillers and not the hyaluronic acid fillers we use today.
So while it may seem ideal that a filler is permanent, in reality it is absolutely not. And that's why permanent fillers are banned.

Safe alternative: hyaluronic acid fillers

The safe alternative to permanent filler is hyaluronic acid filler. Hyaluronic acid is a body's own substance that naturally retains moisture and gives
provides volume in the skin. There is much scientific research that proves the safety of these fillers, even in the long term.

Patient safety is our #1 priority. We are a medical aesthetic clinic and believe in a high level of open and honest communication.
