tear trough filler dangerous?

Are you hesitating to have treatment with injectables, fillers or muscle relaxers and fear danger or negative side effects? In most cases, there is no need to be worried. We briefly list the most frequently asked questions about tear trough filler treatment for you.

Are tear trough fillers dangerous?

Let's get right to the point: no, generally speaking, tear trough fillers - also known as tear through fillers - are not dangerous. It is true, however, that there are some risks associated with this treatment. Those risks mainly have to do with any side effects the treatment may have on your body. Often these side effects are transient and not dangerous, but you would still do well to inform yourself well beforehand, and inform your treating physician of any concerns, allergies or any other medical history.

What are the risks of tear trough filler treatment?

  • Bruising: occurs in a high proportion of cases.
  • Swelling: occurs in the treated injection area and lasts for about 48 hours.
  • Tyndall Effect: blue appearance of the filler under the skin.
  • Lumps: our constructive technique reduces the incidence of lumps.
  • Asymmetry: sometimes one side is treated better than the other, this is usually because the patient is asymmetrical to begin with, be sure to contact us if you still have asymmetry 2 weeks after your treatment with tear trough fillers.
  • Infection: is a very rare complication, but inevitably always a possibility when a needle goes into the skin.
  • Necrosis: (blood vessel is blocked, disrupting the blood supply to the skin) is very rare. In our practice, we always have Hyalase available (hyalase dissolves fillers immediately, allowing immediate intervention).
  • Need for further treatment: several syringes of the product may be needed to obtain the patient's desired result.
