What are crow's feet?
Crow's feet, also called crow's feet, are located on the outer side of your eye and look like the imprint of a crow's foot in the skin. They occur because you laugh, which is why they are sometimes called laugh lines.
How do you get crow's feet?
When you smile or squint your eyes, your eye muscles contract. This contracting motion causes the skin around your eyes to wrinkle. In young, supple skin, those wrinkles will disappear once the face relaxes.
However, as the skin ages, it becomes less supple and elastic. As a result, the wrinkles caused by muscle contraction remain even when the face is relaxed.
Skin aging from age 25 onward
From the age of 25, the skin aging process begins for most people. For some it is earlier, for others later. It depends on environmental factors (smoking, sun exposure...) and your hereditary predisposition.
By the way, did you know that only 10% of your skin aging is due to hereditary factors? The other 90% is up to you. So a healthy lifestyle and protecting your skin from sun damage is really helpful.
Botox or botulinum toxin
Perhaps it's helpful that you first know what Botox is. Do you already know? Then be sure to scroll on to read the rest of the article. Don't know what Botox is? Then it's high time that changed!
Botox is short for botulinum toxin, a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium clostridium botulinum. Neurotoxins are toxins and affect the functioning of our nervous system.
This makes botulinum toxin a muscle relaxant. Botox is by no means the only muscle relaxant on the market, but it is one of the best known. For example, you also have Azzalure and Bocouture.
Botox treatment crow's feet: how does it work?
Now that we know how to get crow's feet, we can explain what botox can do to counteract the formation of crow's feet. As we mentioned above, botox is a muscle relaxant.
Muscle relaxants are going to block the signal transmission between the muscle and the nerve. That will cause your eye muscles to stop contracting when you smile, which prevents the skin from wrinkling and therefore wrinkles from forming.
The results of a botox treatment are not immediately visible. Only after about 10 days will you see that the treatment begins to do its work.
Deep crow's feet removal with fillers
If you are dealing with very deep wrinkles and you want them to disappear completely, we recommend a filler treatment around the eyes in addition to a botox treatment. With this you add subcutaneous volume to the eyes.
In fact, Botox treatments will not suffice when you really need to fill the deep furrows. Since fillers are known for their ability to add volume to the skin, they are so suitable for addressing deep wrinkles.
Botox treatment of the eyes: for whom
Who benefits from botox eye treatment? Anyone dealing with crow's feet and wrinkles around the eyes. That is, it is used for both men and women, as well as young and old.
Botox for preventive treatment crow's feet
In addition to treating crow's feet, muscle relaxants can also work preventively to avoid crow's feet and wrinkles around the eyes. In this regard, we speak of preventive treatment against crow's feet.
Once the elasticity of the skin decreases or begins to decrease, you will find that you don't get crow's feet because the muscle relaxants stop the muscles from contracting.
Using Botox crow's feet curatively
Sometimes people don't necessarily find crow's feet or wrinkles disturbing, but experience them as annoying once they become deep wrinkles. For those deep wrinkles we can, in addition to Botox fillers deployed for a beautiful end result so that the skin is visibly smoother.
Those deep laugh lines occur mostly in people who are already of a slightly more advanced age. They are very annoying because they make you look tired. On top of that, the wrinkles often fill with makeup (in people who put on makeup), making them even more noticeable.
Does botox treatment of the eyes hurt?
Botox eye treatment is virtually painless. You get several small pricks with a very fine needle in the skin around the eyes. The injections also contain an anesthetic, so the treatment is not perceived as painful.
After the treatment, you can also immediately resume your daily activities. However, you may experience some redness and swelling in the injected area. This redness and swelling usually disappear within 48 hours.
