LED Therapy

Scientific studies have shown that LED therapy stimulates the production of new cells and repairs tissues.

It is a scientific procedure developed in the 1980s by NASA to promote wound healing in space. But now LED therapy is a popular skin care treatment for general skin improvement and skin rejuvenation.

What is LED phototherapy?

  • Phototherapy is a treatment in which light with precise wavelengths is administered to the skin to stimulate and activate biological processes deep beneath the skin layers.
  • A light therapy device uses LED technology to generate a variety of light wavelengths that can be used in different treatments.
  • Each wavelength has its own color and thus each also has its own effect.
  • Certain wavelengths are used by LED devices to stimulate blood circulation, promote collagen production, heal skin and reduce acne.

Is LED therapy dangerous? No!

Light Emitting Diode is the abbreviation of LED. LED treatment involves the use of light but have no fear because there is a difference between LED and laser. The main distinction between the two is the way light energy is delivered. Unlike lasers, LEDs give a softer spread of the same wavelengths of light at a significantly lower energy output. That is, LEDs do not have enough power to cause tissue damage.

LED therapy: the different light colors and their benefits

Each wavelength has its own color, these are used to treat a variety of skin conditions. The wavelengths have different effects because they each penetrate the skin at a different depth. The effects of these wavelengths are:

  • Purple light (405 nm): Regenerates cells, treats rosacea and reduces inflammation pain.
  • Blue light (460 nm): destroys acne bacteria, which accumulate in the pores and cause the skin to become inflamed, causing acne and pimples.
  • Cyan light (490 nm): Helps heal and treat swollen and inflamed capillaries.
  • Green light (530 nm): Improves skin tone. Excess melanin is inhibited at the skin level, preventing it from reaching the skin's surface. It also breaks down existing melanin clusters to reduce age spots and pigmentation. As a result, you get an even skin tone and a more youthful appearance.
  • Yellow light (580 nm): Red blood cells and blood circulation are stimulated. Yellow light activates the removal of toxins, improves lymphatic function and circulation, in addition, it is also useful for pigmentation problems.
  • Orange light (605 nm): Improves a dull complexion, reduces toxins, revitalizing the skin and giving you a healthy radiant glow.
  • Red light (625 nm): Fine lines and wrinkles, energizes at the cellular level to stimulate collagen formation.
  • Infrared light (850 nm) white light: Has the same benefits as red light but this penetrates at an even deeper level. This provides faster results for improving collagen and skin elasticity.

What is LED therapy good for?

LED therapy colors info

Wound healing:

Through research, LED therapy has been shown to significantly stimulate cell proliferation in normal human epithelial cells, reduce wound size and accelerate wound closure, accelerate healing of skin grafts and accelerate healing of chronic wounds. (Combination of 660 nm and 850 nm) = red and white light

Acne:

The use of blue LED light will reduce both inflammatory acne and non-inflamed acne lesions. (460 nm) = blue light

Inflammation:

Certain traumas such as (sunlight exposure) will oxidize certain enzymes in the skin. Studies show LED therapy has anti-inflammatory properties and accelerates the resolution of redness. (630 nm - 660 nm)

Photo Rejuvenation:

As we age, the collagen in the skin begins to break down, this causes wrinkles to form. The sun, gravity and hormones can accelerate the aging process. LED therapy can help repair the lack of collagen by stimulating the synthesis of new collagen. (630 nm - 660 nm)

LED therapy is not only effective, but also painless and pleasant, with no recovery period.

LED can also be used on people of different ethnicities and skin types.
