Which laser is used?

IPL or ELOS cheaper, but less effective

First, it is important to consider what type of laser is used for laser hair removal. For example, there are laser hair removal with IPL or ELOS, which uses flashes of light rather than a laser.

Such a treatment using flashes of light is less intense and strong. As a result, such treatments are often cheaper than laser treatments. Of course, that lower price also means weaker and less durable results.

Frequently asked questions laser hair removal

When may I shave again after a session?

It is best to wait until at least 1 day after the laser session to shave again. The day itself the skin may be a bit red and sensitive. You should only shave and never wax. Because by waxing you soften the hair and cause the hair follicle to shrivel, making it harder for the laser energy to "burn" this hair follicle enough so that it can no longer produce hair.

Can I use deodorant after permanent underarm hair removal?

No definitely not! Please wait at least 1 day. Once any redness or sensitivity is gone, you may use deodorant again.

How long must my hair be before a laser session can be performed?

We need at least 1 mm of hair length to properly transmit the energy of the laser through the hair to the hair follicle. Your hair is actually the controughor of the energy, so we do need a hair, otherwise it doesn't make much sense!

Should I shave or wax between sessions?

Shave!!! Just shave. As you shave the hairs, they become slightly thicker and stiffer. This gives us more volume to focus our energy from the laser on. That way we can transmit a lot of energy so the hair follicle burns. That is also the reason why you have faster results on the armpits and bikini than e.g. on your legs, where you often need more sessions or see results less quickly. The rule is the thicker, darker and coarser the hair, the faster you will have results. This is because you can transfer a lot of energy to the hair follicle and it will be completely burned. Sounds more painful than it is you know 🙂

Is laser hair removal painful?

Pain, of course, is subjective and different for everyone. Certain areas are more sensitive than others, such as the bikini or beard area in men. You should feel a slight tingle because then you also know that the hair follicle has been "burned." The first sessions are described as the most sensitive because you still have a lot of hair follicles. Because of this, you will still feel a lot of tingling. As more hair follicles are eliminated, you will feel less pain/stimulation.

When is the best time to come back for another session of laser hair removal?

On average, this is between 4 and 8 weeks. As you move toward the end of your sessions, more time can be left in between. The golden rule is "come back only when your hair is fully growing." Because we are then in the active hair phase, it is only in this phase that you can permanently eliminate the hair follicles. This also means keeping an eye on your own hair cycle so that you can work very efficiently during a session. Otherwise, you will do a session that will have little effect.

Why do there have to be different sessions?

Because hairs grow in different growth phases and we can only eliminate permanent hair follicles in 1 phase. Namely, the active growth phase. A hair has 3 different phases, and each hair is in a separate phase. Fortunately, otherwise we would e.g. be bald for one period, and then have lots of hair for a period! Only in this growth phase can we permanently remove hair. All other phases are there for the taking. Because we don't know which hair is in which phase, so you have to come back every so often, until there are almost no hairs left.

Is laser hair removal allowed during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Because hair growth and hair cycles are sensitive to hormonal fluctuations, it is not recommended to do sessions during this period. For example, you may need additional sessions, or the laser may not work efficiently enough. Because we only want to work efficiently with good results we strongly advise against laser treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

How long should I stay out of the sun after a laser hair removal?

After your laser hair removal, it would not be wise to go swimming or really sunbathe immediately. The skin may be a little sensitive afterwards and sometimes look a little red. We recommend staying out of the sun or not swimming for at least 1 week anyway. Of course you can do laser hair removal in the summer, but not in places where you are exposed to the sun or just before a sun vacation.

How many sessions do I need to be hair-free?

On average you should count between 3 to 8 sessions then you will be about 90% hair free. This means that you will NEVER be 100% hair free! Occasionally a hair follicle that has not been reached but has not produced a hair for years, for example, will suddenly produce a hair. We recommend a yearly follow up session.

Is laser hair removal allowed during the summer?

You may certainly do definitive laser sessions during the summer. Just keep in mind that you should not literally lie in the sun a few weeks before the laser session until 1 week after the laser session.

How much does laser hair removal cost?

Laser hair removal by nurse?

Our laser hair removal is done partly by a nurse, or by someone who has received special training in permanent laser treatment. Not only the quality of your device is very important but also the settings and skill of the laser specialist! We work with a regular team of laser specialists, so you almost always have the same person to perform your permanent hair removal.

Laser hair removal for redheads or blonde hairs?

Red and blonde hairs are very difficult to not be permanently removed with the laser. A better solution for these types of hairs is permanent electrolysis hair removal. In electrolysis hair removal, one will "burn" hair by hair, through a fine needle. Unlike the laser, which only gets to the follicle with laser energy thanks to the color pigment of the hair. Color pigment in red or blond hair is missing, so the laser cannot transmit its energy through the hair, and one will bring the energy to the hair root through a needle. This is a very time-consuming process and is also more painful than permanent laser hair removal. But you will be truly permanently rid of your blonde or reddish hair 🙂 🙂 .

Is laser hair removal allowed on a tattoo?

No, never laser on a tattoo! You have to count that a laser is blind, and focuses its energy on pigment/color. Hence the importance of tinted hair, and preferably a slightly paler skin than the hair, so that there is sufficient contrast. So the laser does not know it is a tattoo. It sees dark pigment, and it wants to energize that. The result is a superficial burn on the tattoo, as well as loss of color from your tattoo.

Which laser is the best for permanent hair removal and what is the difference between laser and IPL?

First of all, it is important that you have a real laser because laser is a beam of light/energy and therefore has a super focus. IPL is more broad-spectrum light, so it targets at different levels and therefore does not get as much energy in 1 particular place. Namely where the hair follicle is located, hence with IPL you also need multiple sessions. Our laser is the best because it delivers energy at 3 different depths. These depths have also been scientifically described as being the most efficient for hair removal. For example, a hair that is lighter in color or finer in texture is at a different depth than a dark, coarse hair. The best known is the Diode Laser, working at a depth of 810 nm. In addition, our laser also possesses Alexandrite wavelength and Nyag, each with their specific laser length.

How long should I stay out of the sun after laser hair removal?

The treated area itself should be kept out of the sun for at least 1 week, otherwise you have a chance of pigmentation disorders in the skin.
