Before treatment: what is HIFU and how to prepare for treatment
HIFU or high intensity focused ultrasound
HIFU stands for High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound. The treatment is aimed at tightening and firming the skin without surgery and is used both for the skin of the face and that of the body.
The energy of the sound waves in a HIFU treatment penetrates deep into the skin tissues. This will cause the temperature in that deep dermal layer for a short period of time rises, whereforer cell renewal and collagen production are stimulated.

Is the treatment painful?
HIFU treatment is not perceived as painful by most patients, but may feel somewhat uncomfortable. During the treatment you will feel slight tingling or a slight prickling.
After the treatment a very small percentage still suffers discomfort in the form of tingling in the treated areas. From a study showed that 25% of patients experienced pain after the treatment, but it disappeared on its own after a maximum of 4 weeks.
Treatment by expert attending physician
Having a HIFU treatment performed by someone with lack of expertise can have harmful consequences consequences. In fact, HIFU requires precision: the treatment must be performed at the correct depth.
You should not do it too superficially because it will damage the upper skin surface, but you should also not go too deep because you will destroy the fat layers and thus the volume of the skin.

After treatment: aftercare and expectations
Hardly any side effects of HIFU treatment
From scientific research show that the side effects of a HIFU treatment are minimal. Only in a few cases do adverse side effects occur, and when they do they are often very mild and of short duration.
We also find that side effects are often nil, even at Sarasin Clinic. In the worst case, there is slight swelling and slight redness of the treated skin. However, we find that this swelling disappears very quickly. We also give tips after the treatment for aftercare, so that you can take optimal care of the treated area.
After the treatment, we also ask you to apply a collagen cream for a certain period of time. You can of course obtain this from us after your treatment!
Hardly any side effects, which also means hardly any recovery time. Because you need so little recovery time, you can go back to your daily activities after treatment!
What result can you expect?
Immediately after treatment
After the treatment, the skin is immediately tightened. So you will see a decrease in loose skin and an increase in tight skin. Of course, immediately after the treatment you will not yet see the final results of the treatment.
1 month after the treatment, about 40% of the result will be visible. For the remaining 60%, you have to wait between 3 to 6 months. This is because the treatment triggers production of collagen, which over time reduces wrinkles and tightens the skin.
After 3 to 6 months
From scientific research shows that three months after the treatment a significant result is visible. For the final result of the treatment you will need about six months wait.
That is, after six months you can see the lifting effect of the treatment at its best. Bye bye double chin, hello tight jawline!
Difference before and after is person dependent
The result of the treatment depends from person to person, as it is based on the functioning of your skin and how quickly the cells recover. Last but not least: HIFU is very effective, but it is - like all other skin treatments - not a panacea.
